Posted: November 12, 2016OK, so I realize shooting is more like a lifestyle for some and a really big taboo for others. I am not trying to make any brash statements about guns. I feel guns are like any kind of technology, they can be used for practical and useful things and also for really horrible things. Certainly I am not a big fan of big huge guns that are only designed to hurt other people, so lets get that out of the way. The reason I like shooting as a ‘hobby’ is that it teaches us to respect powerful technology, it teaches us focus under pressure, and it teaches us how to manage our nerves in intense situations. If you have never shot a gun before, try keeping your eyes open when the firearm goes off, using eye protection of course. It is a bit of a challenge at first – but you hit the target more when you can see it :)
Controlling the body in intense moments and maintaining focus at the same time is a challenge that dates back to the earliest martial arts disciplines. Anyways, I find it helps my business consulting the most, because that is where focus is really needed to accomplish a task with accuracy and usually in the most extreme situations where peoples jobs and lives are literally on the line.
I recommend you try it if you are a business consulting kind of person, your game is certain to sharpen.
